Sharon asks…

What colour of dress would look good with brown and gold setup for my wedding?

I am thinking of using gold and brown for the reception for my wedding but I don't know how to decorate it using both colours. It is also hard to think of a colour that will best suit my bridesmaid and flower girls that also looks good with the brown and gold theme of the tables. I am afraid that the table colour might over power my bridesmaid.  My wedding is in spring this year so I really need your help.

Kim answers:

If the decor is brown with gold accents a gold dress would look really nice. It is your big day and as the bride you want to stand out and be the one shining. Silver goes with anything. A deep royal blue could work depending on the brown but it can be hard to find the right shoes to go with it. Purples are tending to be going out of fashion. Really deep grey's can work as long as they are made with the right textured material. I would keep away from green colours unless you happen to really like them. Colours can be very personal and as long as they do not clash when mixed together you can have almost anything you fancy.

I hope that helps xx

Maria asks…

Is it okay to setup a military 'we remember' table at my wedding?

I am in the Navy and my fiance is in the Royal Air Force. All of our guests also have a close connection with the military in one way or another. We want to honour the fallen military members by having a special 'remember them' table set up at the reception like we have seen at some military dinning facilities. Do you think this would be okay? (don't want anyone offended) and should we  to say something about it, or call attention to it at the reception?

Grahame answers:

I personally would advise you not to do this. It's not that people would be offended – it is rather that it could easily cast a very sombre note into your reception, especially something this prominent. Anyone with a family member in the military who is serving or has fallen could easily find this difficult and sad to deal with. If there are people you want to honour or remember, this could be mentioned in one of the toasts, but otherwise I would make the focus all about your happy day.
