Wedding Ideas on a Budget

When it comes to planning your wedding one of the first priorities will be how much you have to spend on your special day. At My Wedding Planning Ideas we know every couple will have a different budget and the order of how it is spent will differ. However our main aim is to help couples find the very best value. We do not believe that budget means cheap. Quite often many genuine saving can be made by purchasing similar products and services when compared to many of those that are much more expensive.

After all your big day is one of the most anticipated moments of your life and if you are looking to have a memorable wedding without an expensive price tag, then we will show you how you can do this without sacrificing quality. It is no secret that the current state of the economy has ushered in a new culture of saving, where people are no longer buying things that they want but things that they need. The same may apply when making plans and looking for wedding ideas on a budget.

You should consider only planning to get the things that are 'must haves' for your wedding and only purchase more if there is sufficient left in the budget. Come up with a realistic plan and prepare a priority wish list you would like for your wedding. If you don't stop and think about what is and is not a priority, then you're more like to spend much more than you need to. There is no right or wrong here, it's about what YOU want and ensuring you have all you need to make it the special day of your dreams.

The next step is to shop around for products and services that you can get at the most affordable prices. Local and regional papers, the internet and people who have recently married are good places to start when looking for a caterer, decorator and photographer for your wedding. The internet especially will have a lot of information that will give you many excellent wedding ideas on a budget.

To help your wedding budget stretch even further, you can employ the services of a family member or friend who may be able to offer you services at a reasonable price. Or you could even do it yourself. Consider this; a friend who recently married rather than arranging for a wedding photographer decided to place disposable cameras on all the tables and asked a friend to video the ceremony and speeches. The friend also edited the video and cropped all the pictures from the cameras and the end product came out really well.

Whatever you decide, do not be too hasty to go with the first vendor and always compare who you want to employ professionally by checking the quality of their work beforehand via a portfolio and ideally get customer referrals as well. Ask them questions about guaranteeing their work, if they will actually be doing the work themselves, and if they have a backup plan should a personal emergency arise.

Traditionally, weekends are synonymous with weddings but you will most likely find it is less expensive if you were to have your wedding during the week. Not many couples get married during the week and your venue of choice will definitely be more economical to hire. However, if you are having a traditional weekend wedding, consider picking a venue that can double for both the ceremony and reception. This is now becoming more popular especially with civil ceremonies and this way you get two for the price of one.

For the wedding ceremony, choosing a less formal theme could save you some money.

Try to avoid planning a wedding abroad unless you know all the people you want to attend can afford to travel to the destination, that is UNLESS you are paying for all the travel arrangements.

Make sure that you get everything in writing so there won't be any surprises before or after the big day.

These are just a few tips on getting the best value with a little saved here and there. You will be surprised how you can one of the best days of your life without the costs spiralling away from you.
