This is where wedding centrepiece ideas and a little imagination can easily and inexpensively create a lovely attractive table. If you're getting ready for your wedding, you need to think about decorations for the reception. Traditional floral decorations are beautiful, although they can be expensive as florist services require so much work and attention to detail. The good news is that there are so many excellent options that offer great value whatever the size of your budget.
We recommend that you stay within your theme and colour scheme to create attractive, appealing tables that everyone will love. Let's take a look at some of our wedding centrepiece ideas.
Sweets and Chocolates
Informal weddings can use brightly coloured candies to add a light touch.
An inexpensive set of glass containers, such as giant goblets, bowls, or even wide-mouthed vases, transforms into a beautiful set of centrepieces when you fill them with attractive wrapped chocolates.
Try chocolate or fruit flavoured M&Ms (you can get them custom coloured and printed).
Top off your dishes with an attractive (organic) flower or two, and your guests can enjoy the look and taste of your centrepieces.
Flowers
You can still have floral decorations on your reception tables and many of the flowers used in the ceremony (brides and bridesmaids flowers) can easily be converted to use on the reception tables.
Make the centrepieces yourself by using high quality artificial flowers.
A few hardy, exotic flowers can be placed in a simple vase and accented with candles, for a minimalist look. Just use two or three flowers per table, and fill the rest of the container with stones or glass beads.
Potted flowers are another inexpensive option. They can be purchased very easily in the right season and if you re-pot them in pretty containers, or cover/paint the existing pot to create a centrepiece that guests can take home to plant.
Candles
You can't go wrong with candles. They lend an elegant touch in an inexpensive way. You can purchase various size candles plus holders in the design of your choice at your local craft shop or online.
Balloons
Floating balloon bouquets can be a great choice for an attractive table. There are all kinds of shapes, colours and styles, so it's easy to match your wedding colours and themes.
We personally love the look of balloons in pearly pastels, or create more dramatic balloon bunches with some of the really vibrant colours. Cut the ribbons in different lengths to create an attractive range of heights. You can add small flowers or confetti, and have fun popping the balloons later during the evening.
Try using sweets or fruit instead of traditional weights, and your guests will be able to take them home after the reception.
A few good well thought out wedding centrepiece ideas, a willingness to shop for good value products and some of your time to put to all together can make all the difference.
